Rain, Rain

By Josh Banday
It's a
VERY
RAINY
DAY.
I want to curl up in the biggest
BLANKET
with a cup of
hot cocoa
and my
favorite
book.
But
mom
says we need to run
errands.
Everything is so
wet
and so
cold.
The rain keeps finding my face.
It comes
Front ways
and
Sideways
and
all
the
ways.
I want to
whine
or
scream
or
cry.
Instead I
climb
into my
raincoat.
In the imaginary main room, I find
mr. kravitz,
miss sharma,
and
mr. greene.
mr. greene
offers me
Hot Cocoa
and some
Crackers
with
Soft Cheese.
We chat about
errands.
and
Sideways
rain
and
gumball
machines.
When we've finished,
mr. greene
wipes his whiskers and says he could use my
Help.
mr. kravitz
opens the
bathroom
door.
"The entire bathroom has been overrun by weeples."
He's right.
Weeples are
everywhere.
There isn't enough imaginary room for them all.
Now, they are spilling out into the
Kitchen.
We try asking the weeples to leave.
But they won't.
Not with the
Rain
outside.
Weeples
hate
the rain.
We try putting them in
jars.
But they always find a way
out.
Weeples know that
jars
jelly.
are for
We try
packing
them in
boxes.
We mail them to
Pensacola.
But the mailmain says they
don't
Deliver
weeples.
Just then,
miss sharma,
comes in with a tray of
tea.
"Would anyone like some tea?"
she asks.
woopsie doodle!"
She trips on a
weeple.
The weeples start
giggling.
Then
chuckling.
Then
guffawing.
Soon, they are laughing so hard that they begin to
poof!
"Everyone!"
I say,
"make the weeples
laugh!"
mr. kravitz
does a
silly walk.
mr. Greene
breaks out his
standup
Comedy
Routine.
I balance a
spoon
on my nose.
miss sharma
juggles the tea set, saying,
"Whoopsie doodle!"
One by one, the weeples
poof.
Soon, my imaginary house is clean again.
We celebrate a job well done with more
soft cheese
and
hot cocoa.
When everyone's
asleep
I climb back
up
and out of my
raincoat.
The
sun
is
shining.
